Beaconsfield Skatepark is one of the newest skate facilities to hit East Melbourne, bringing with it a modern design and some unique features that set it apart. The project was designed by Playce in collaboration with Baseplate and constructed by Trinity Skateparks, resulting in a fresh, well-thought-out layout that caters to skaters, scooters, and BMX riders alike.
At its core, the park offers a versatile street section paired with a 3/4 bowl. The street area is built around a sloping gradient, which has been cleverly utilized with steps, ramps, rails, and ledges. Notably, the design squeezes in a mellow four-stair set—one of the easiest to approach in the greater Melbourne area—offering both a square rail and a round rail for variety.
The feature bowl, standing around 4 feet high, provides a different challenge. Unlike the park’s otherwise mellow flow, the bowl is steep with near-vert transitions, making it the one obstacle that demands more commitment and precision. Over time, riders will likely find it becomes one of the park’s most rewarding elements.
Adding to Beaconsfield’s uniqueness are some quirky design choices you won’t see elsewhere. There’s a funky curb-bank hybrid, circular banks with a hip (affectionately referred to as “lemons”), and even vertical seat structures reminiscent of Melbourne’s tram interiors—perfect for leaning on while catching your breath between runs.
Despite its modest size, the park punches above its weight in creativity and functionality. It’s already earned a four-star rating from the Skater Maps team—a big achievement for a smaller facility. Beaconsfield Skatepark has quickly proven itself as a worthy addition to Melbourne’s skate scene, balancing accessibility for beginners with enough challenges to keep seasoned skaters coming back for more.
