Located in Community Park, the newly constructed 22,000 square foot skatepark is a standout facility in the region, designed to cater to skaters of all skill levels. It seamlessly integrates advanced features with areas suitable for beginners and novices, ensuring a comprehensive skateboarding experience.
Key Aspects of the Skatepark:
- **Design & Features**: Includes an 8' bowl, a skate plaza area, and a unique concrete pumptrack circuit along the perimeter.
- **Accessibility**: The skatepark replaced the original Thomas J. Slocum Memorial Skatepark, with the reconstruction process beginning in 2020.
Skatepark Rules:
- **Hours of Use**: The park is open daily from 6 AM to 8 PM, and until 10 PM if illuminated.
- **Safety and Conduct**: Skating is at your own risk and unsupervised. Helmets and pads are strongly recommended. Glass containers, food, tobacco, makeshift modifications, motorized equipment, and vandalism are prohibited.
- **Closure Rights**: Thornton reserves the right to close the skatepark under certain circumstances for health, safety, or other reasons.
- **Behavior**: Respectful, kind, and courteous behavior is expected at all times.
