The old-school Sunnybank Bowl in Sunnybank, Brisbane, sits right next to Pengana Playground, making it easy to find for locals and visitors alike.
Originally built as just a bowl, the park has seen some updates over the years and now features a concrete mini ramp that’s become a standout. This newer addition is much smoother than the original bowl and comes equipped with well-loved steel coping, making it a fun spot for casual sessions.
The original bowl itself is clearly showing its age. Built before the days of standard steel coping, it has a rectangular layout with one open side, and its transitions resemble banks more than the smooth curves we see in modern skatepark design. It’s a tough one to ride and better suited for those looking for a nostalgic challenge.
With the mini ramp and a few banks now being the main attraction, it might be time to rethink the name—because Sunnybank Bowl is now more than just a bowl.
