South Gate Skate Park, nestled within the expansive South Gate Park offering sporting and recreational activities, stands as a prominent destination covering over 21 hectares, including 12 hectares of semi-natural woodland known as Hawth Woods. The park has many amenities, such as playing fields, a children’s play area, woodland, a lawn bowls rink, a social club, toilets, and parking facilities.
This concrete skatepark within South Gate Park is recognized for its awesomeness. To access the skatepark, visitors typically need a card with their particulars, obtainable for free within the park premises. Notably, wearing a helmet is a mandatory requirement for entry. In the past, authorities would check for helmets around 3 PM, but now a dedicated staff member ensures compliance.
Designed by the skilled skatepark designers Purkiss Rose, the skatepark features an assortment of ramps, including rails, stairs, ledges, quarterpipes, a pyramid/funbox, spine, and metal coping.
