In 2013, it received a major upgrade designed by Playce, turning it into one of the city’s most unique and celebrated street-focused skateparks.
What sets Reservoir apart is its creative use of recycled urban elements—many of which you’d find scattered across Melbourne’s laneways and streets. From fire hydrants to tram barriers, the park mimics an authentic street environment, giving skaters a true city-style experience in a controlled setting. Built atop former basketball and netball courts, the gritty concrete adds to the street aesthetic—but riders should note that its rough surface can easily tear up clothing or skin. Cracks in certain areas have also started to appear, posing a minor hazard, particularly for skaters with smaller wheels.
Despite these quirks, Reservoir Skatepark has earned acclaim for its award-winning design, drawing skaters from around the globe who are seeking a raw, creative street spot. It’s now a standout location for skaters in the northern suburbs and a cornerstone in Melbourne’s growing street skate scene.
Reservoir Skatepark is open 24/7, with no lighting, so daytime skating is advised.
Located in Reservoir, a northern suburb of Melbourne, VIC. The park sits within a local reserve and is accessible via car, bike, or public transport.
