📍 Laguna Beach Community and Recreation Center, Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, CA, USA

In 2024, Laguna Beach finally caved to local skater demands for a skate park. Years of effort and organizing met frequent resistance from the community. Another question that never could be solved is — where to build a park?
The town settled on Laguna Beach Community and Recreation Center on South Coast Highway. The center became the skate park spot, at least temporarily. The city of Laguna invested $75,000 in wooden skate ramps and placed them on land originally purposed for basketball and four square.
$75,000 is a relatively low sum of money for a Southern California beach town, namely a pricey town like Laguna Beach. However, we’re glad something arrived!
Lastly, we all know California is notorious for their misuse of taxpayer dollars. This municipal expense is no exception. The City of Laguna Beach overpaid by 10,000’s of dollars, and the entire park should have been built for no more than $40,000.
Well, we are Californians. We are used to waste of our tax dollars.
Let’s hope Laguna Beach soon builds a real park. After all, Dana Point and Newport Beach also are missing parks. This provides a great opportunity for local families to stay and skate in the community.
Skate Park Hours
The ramps are open to the public on weekdays from 12:00 – 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Ramps are closed during rainy conditions.
