Hilltop Skatepark, located at 61 Whitney Young Cir, San Francisco, CA 94124, is a prominent outdoor concrete skateboarding haven situated within Hilltop Park, also known as Sundial Park. Originally opened in 1979, this expansive 16,000-square-foot skatepark underwent a significant redesign and renovation, leading to its grand reopening in 2016. The park now offers a modern and dynamic environment for skaters of all levels, making it a beloved destination in the community.
The transformation of Hilltop Skatepark was made possible through a collaborative effort involving the Tony Hawk Foundation, Grind line Skateparks, and the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department. This partnership revitalized the park, and its rededication on December 3, 2016, marked a significant milestone in its evolution into a premier skateboarding venue. The redesign has created a modern space that caters to skaters of all skill levels, enhancing the community’s skateboarding experience.
Hilltop Skatepark features several unique elements that make it a must-visit destination for skateboarders. Among them is a guitar-shaped bowl, which not only adds aesthetic appeal but also provides a challenging skating experience. The park also includes a dynamic volcano obstacle, along with banks, a quarter pipe, roll-in areas, and corners, catering to a wide variety of skating styles and skill levels. This diverse range of features ensures that there’s something for every skater to enjoy!
Hilltop Skatepark is dedicated solely to skateboarding, creating a focused environment for enthusiasts. With no other riding equipment permitted, this exclusivity enhances the skateboarding experience, allowing skaters to fully immerse themselves in the sport. It provides a dedicated space for skateboarders to hone their skills and connect with fellow enthusiasts, fostering a strong sense of community among riders.
Hilltop Skatepark is open daily from 8:30 AM to 9 PM, providing plenty of time for visitors to enjoy its facilities. Best of all, there’s no fee to use the park, making it an accessible and inviting space for both the local skateboarding community and visitors. Its prime location in Hilltop Park, combined with its diverse range of features and support from notable skateboarding organizations, solidifies Hilltop Skatepark as a standout destination for skateboarders in San Francisco.
