George Lane Skatepark, sprawling across 15,000 square feet, celebrated its official opening on August 14, drawing a massive crowd of skateboarders, BMX bike enthusiasts, and community supporters. This marked the second successful skatepark project undertaken for Los Angeles County, following the earlier completion of a street plaza at Castaic Park.
Situated just south of Lancaster, George Lane Skatepark caters to terrain styles and skill levels. The design elegantly winds around shade trees, featuring a 5′-7.5′ bowl, a beginner-friendly snake run, and various street ramps such as stairs, grind rails, and manual pads.
The skatepark’s perimeter offers amenities like spectator seating, a shade structure, a drinking fountain, bike racks, and a cutting-edge Musco lighting system for extended hours of use.
Nestled in a compact, tree-lined space within a larger recreational area offering play equipment, sports courts, picnic tables, and a swimming pool, George Lane Skatepark stands as a spacious outdoor concrete facility. Illuminated for night skating, the park is open from 6:30 am to 9 pm and welcomes skateboards, scooters, skates, and BMX bikes. Entrance is free, and riders are required to wear safety pads.
