Breaking Free Skatepark – Rochester
1044 University Ave, Rochester, NY 14607
Opened in December 2016, New York’s largest indoor skatepark and skate, scooter, and bike shop, known as BFS, stands tucked away off University Avenue, welcoming visitors down a long driveway. Spanning 20,000 square feet, BFS is a haven for wheel enthusiasts, fostering a positive atmosphere that encourages progression and inclusivity.
The skatepark prides itself on creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed and comfortable, regardless of skill level, age, background, or gender. The space features an extensive array of equipment showcased along a long, L-shaped counter—scooter handles, wheels of various colors, skate decks, helmets, and stickers. For those needing gear, boards, bikes, and equipment are available for rent, alongside snacks and energy drinks purchasable at the register.
Inside the park, a tropical temperature envelops visitors navigating the 20,000 square feet of ramps, rails, and half pipes. Parents find solace on a raised wooden platform situated to the right of the entrance, overseeing the park and ensuring their children’s safety.
Operating hours vary throughout the week:
– Tues-Thurs: 4 pm–10 pm
– Fri: 1 pm-12 am
– Sat: 10 am–10 pm
– Sun: 10 am–10 pm
With a commitment to fostering a positive atmosphere and promoting skill development among all who visit, BFS promises an inclusive space for wheeled sports enthusiasts to gather, practice, and enjoy the thrill of the ride.
