📍 Barwon Heads Skatepark, Sheepwash Road, Barwon Heads VIC, Australia
Designed and built by Convic Skateparks, Barwon Heads Skatepark sits within the Barwon Heads Community Park and is home to one of the Bellarine Peninsula’s most infamous features — a dog bone-shaped 9ft bowl with a shallower 4ft section. The narrow middle spine links the two ends, making for fast, flowing runs. The steep walls make it easy to generate speed into the deeper half, but climbing your way back takes some grit. With its 2ft vert incline capped in steel coping, this bowl earns its reputation as the gnarliest in the region.
For skaters looking for something a little more forgiving, Ocean Grove Skatepark is just a 10-minute drive away, offering mellower transitions and easier lines.
The street section at Barwon Heads is cleverly designed, wrapping around a cluster of trees that not only brings a sense of nature into the session but also turns the layout into a continuous course. Expect a mix of features, including a 5ft quarter, banks, boxes, rails, stairs, and ledges to keep things interesting.
Practical touches include a drinking fountain on site. The addition of a glass sound barrier, while functional, can feel a little out of place — some say it gives off a zoo-like vibe. On the upside, it means you’re free to crank up the boom box and set the soundtrack for your session.
