Being a skateboarder for over twenty years, I've witnessed a lot of change and progression happen in the skateboarding industry and the culture that supports it. I view skateboarding as more of a lifestyle than a sport, as more of a medium of artistic expression rather than that of athletic skill. From the perspective of a core skateboarder, changes that occur in skateboarding like the Olympics, fashion gimmicks, and corporate sponsorship have little effect on the authenticity of the real skateboard scene even though they bring a much-needed influx of viewership and monetary value. The older I get the more I appreciate the time I have to go out and skateboard, which is normally about three or four times a week. At the age of 31, I still find myself learning new tricks and taking advantage of every opportunity to film my friends and build DIY skate spots.  Although my approach depends on each client's experience, I teach techniques that have been proven successful and have a variety of different methods for instruction based on each person's interest and technical ability. Not only do I focus on the physical act of skating, but I also aim to show the students the lifestyle and culture of the skateboarding world. Whether it's street, park, or transition skating, you will be stoked by how much you learn after just a few lessons.

I started skateboarding on a plastic skateboard around 1983 and shortly after began my journey into the world of skateboarding when I got my first used pro deck (Mark "Gator" Rogowski). I quickly learned the difference between commercial and professional skateboard parts so I was well known as it was still the early stages of professional skateboarding. I was mostly a street skater which consisted of anything you could think of that was in the city. My experience started with streets, launch ramps, pools, and mini-ramps, and eventually, skateparks became more accessible. Over the years I have skated in amateur CASL contests, became friends and skated with pros, was filmed and filmed other skaters for video parts, skated in different countries, had a photo session with Thrasher Magazine photographer Joel Cherry, and was current with new tricks, made my own skateboard design for Basic Skateboards (which became their #1 selling deck), had many sponsors like Fat Albert Clothing, local skate shops, Zorlak, Basic, Venture Trucks, etc... I teach skateboarding to people of all ages as a courtesy when I am out and someone needs help to learn. I am a teacher by nature which includes subjects: Math, Special Needs Classroom Assistant, Robotic Engineering, Language Arts, Chess, and more. I have been skateboarding for over 30 years, so with my passion to teach and skate I will get the job done with some fun and with precision.

I used to give skateboarding lessons in Butler Pennsylvania at a locally-owned skatepark. Basically teaching kids how to drop in on quarterpipes/mini ramps how to fall foot positioning ollie manuals some grinds nothing much more advanced than that. I also worked for over a year as an academic arts facilitator in New Orleans running an after-school education program for disadvantaged youth. I was very successful in this position and worked well as a teacher and mentor. I am positive this experience will help me greatly as a skateboarding instructor. In terms of lessons I can offer instruction in: terminology Dropping in on ramps switch and regular stance: ollies nollies kickflips heelflips manuals 180's and 360s. 50-50 5-o grind crooked grinds nose and tail slide boardslide frontside and backside flip shuvits varials big spins 360 flips. And basically how to have fun and be safe riding a skateboard in any stance.
