Veteran Instructor Zachary W. — Charlotte, North Carolina

“Skateboarding doesn't make you a skateboarder. Not being able to stop skateboarding makes you a skateboarder.” -Lance Mountain    A Note From The Instructor: "While I no longer skate the same way, take the same risks, or have the same skating style as I once had, my passion for rolling around on those magical four wheels has not diminished. It is hard for me to remember a time in my life when I didn't have and consistently enjoy riding a skateboard.    This pursuit has not been without its ups and downs. My closest and most long-term friends were met via skating, and some of my best memories involve hanging out with my friends and rolling companions. On the other side of that coin comes my tribulations at the hands of my pastime. While I hope not to scare any parent of a skater. In 2008, I learned how important helmets are. In that year, I suffered a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) as a result of racing down a hill. The doctors told my mother that my TBI was so severe because of the culmination of many blows to the head. All this being said, I urge every skater and every parent to ensure that they wear a helmet.    Because, after all, I have experienced, the good outweighs the bad, I decided to teach the art of adaptive creativity which some call "skateboarding"." -Zach W.    About Zach W: Zach has been skateboarding for over twenty years. He brings to his lessons a fundamental understanding of how to ride a skateboard on all types of elements. From the skatepark to the street, Zach is well-versed in all manners and styles of skateboarding.    As a Certified Nurse Aide, Zach also brings along with him a professional knowledge of first aid and BLS (Basic Life Support) skills certification. His knowledge of skating is only paralleled by his knowledge of healthcare and his love for both.    Zach instructs anywhere around the Charlotte metropolitan area and is willing to travel far distances to accommodate. Zach accepts students of all ages and teaches beginner to intermediate-level skaters.    Zach loves to share his passion for skating and will be just as passionate about teaching any newcomer or more seasoned skater how to refine their skateboarding abilities.

What Students can learn from my lessons are the basics of skateboarding from safety, board knowledge, and tricks but the most important lesson my students will learn, is the art behind the skateboarding culture and how the passion for Skateboarding can teach everyone how to balance life and learn more about themselves.
