I have been an avid skateboarder since I was seven. Although in recent years I have switched my focus to surfing, skateboarding remains a sport I have always been passionate about. While I do not have formal experience coaching skateboarding, I have worked as a surf instructor for multiple years and have continued to pursue teaching roles; I currently work as a peer advisor for the Education Abroad Program here at UCSB.
I have always enjoyed teaching skills and sports that I am passionate about to young children. I see myself in young skateboarders and surfers, and their whimsy and positivity inspire me. In helping young athletes hone their skateboarding skills, I also hope to teach them life lessons about work ethic, courage, and perseverance that many times cannot be learned in a classroom.
