I've been skateboarding since 2006 and have experience across freestyle, street, vert, and transition. If it has wheels, I ride it. My approach to teaching is built on deep board control, creativity, and understanding how tricks actually work, not just how they look. I focus on helping skaters build confidence, balance, speed control, and strong fundamentals that transfer across all styles of skating. Known locally for my versatility and unconventional style. Whether you are stepping on a board for the first time or trying to break through a plateau, my goal is to help you progress safely, efficiently, and with your own style.
I started skateboarding when I was about three so I've had a lot of practice experience, skateboarding and listening to people teach me, and within the past three years every time I've been at a skate park. I've made up my goal to ask the younger youth we're trying to skateboard if they want to learn any tricks to ask me and so far I've been teaching a lot of kids, so I figured so. I figured why not put in an application to become an instructor? , so I figured so. I figured why not put in an application to become an instructor for skateboarding?
Skateboarding and longboarding for over a decade grew up around kids and babysitting for family
I've been teaching skateboarding for about 4 years now and have taught anyone from as young as 4 to as old as 55. I've been an instructor for Fargo skateboarding Summer Camps in the past, as well as did a skateboarding course/class for a private school in Yorkville. Through Fargo, I've also worked a summer class of 2 hrs once a week at the Geneva Park District for a whole summer once and will continue to do it this summer as well. I love teaching people new skills and showing them that even though skateboarding can be challenging it can also be fun and open others to think in the skater mentality., If you fall you get back up and try again! Being a female skater helps me connect with other women/girls that want to start skating because I give them the confidence to not focus on the craziness going on at the park and focus on having fun and achieving their goals. I also do 1 on 1 lesson through some clientele that I've received from teaching at indoor skateparks and my hourly rate is 40$. I catch myself giving my girlfriends mini lessons whenever they meet up to skate with me and they all tell me they love skating with me because I make it fun and they always end up learning new things!
Kevin is 23 years old, he has a progressive muscle disease that only affects his arms and hands, but doesn't affect his legs at all allowing him to skateboard without issue. It sadly doesn't allow him to work a traditional job. So he started skating again recently and skates 8-12 hours nearly every single day. Kevin would always available for lessons and is always improving as a result of how much he skates and his passion for improving his craft. He puts safety above all else, to begin with, he wears multiple pads and braces for every session he skates. Kevin would be a good instructor because of how much he skates, along with having a very positive and encouraging attitude. He can teach the very basics, street skating, or vert skating, and most importantly he can teach falling correctly to minimize the chances of injury. He is a very upbeat and friendly person, who can get along with pretty much everyone, as a result, he is extremely easy to work with. He is excellent with young children especially due to his patience, but can still work and deal with people of all ages too. Kevin himself is constantly skating and trying to learn new things and grow as a skater, just as he would help his students do the same. He is very good at breaking things down and explaining things in a simplistic and easy to understanding matter. I also feel one of Kevin's biggest strengths is that he can teach them to recognize their own flaws, so basically why they didn't land the trick this particular time. So when they are off practicing alone, they can know if this happened which means they did this wrong. It can help them immensely grow as skaters on their own time too because they can self-critique to get tricks down. Kevin has a real passion for skateboarding and dedicates all of his time nearly daily to it and has loved it since he was a kid. Kevin understand the progression and dedication it takes to continually improve and he would love to help others improve and reach their goals and aspirations. Kevin has taught some friends simple things such as dropping in, rock to fakie, kickflips, and then even just basic stuff like kick turns. Kevin is a great person to teach a skater whether the skater has just bought his first board and needs to learn the absolute basics such as; how to balance on it and which stance is natural for him, or for the skater that can ollie and wants to just learn some cool tricks or how to ollie that 4 sets of stairs to show off to his friends. Kevin is also very willing to travel and the price will vary based on the distance traveled, but he is willing to drive 30+ miles away to give a lesson and continue to spread and teach the joy and wondrous world of skateboarding. The Clips and pictures are just meant to show he has a basic and good grasp of skateboarding ability in both transition and street skating, that is easily teachable, not to blow your mind or anything.
With 20 years of skateboarding experience, the board has become more than just a tool it's an extension of my body. My love for skateboarding runs deep, embracing not just the thrill of the ride, but the culture, the community, and the constant pursuit of pushing personal limits. Whether it's nailing a new trick or cruising through the streets, every moment on the board feels like a natural expression of who I am. As someone who is patient and enjoys working with kids, I believe I would make an excellent skateboarding teacher. My approach is all about making learning fun and accessible, helping others discover the joy of skateboarding at their own pace. I understand how to break down complex tricks into manageable steps and create an encouraging environment where students can thrive and build confidence.
I started skating when I was in seventh grade. When I started skating it was because someone had moved out from the apartment complex that I lived at and they had left behind a skate board, i still remember vividly finding it really beat up Speed Demon black and white board and thats how my journey started. I remember skating trying to learn and little stunts and ofcourse falling alot but ofcourse learning alot. Finally I also started making friends and also noticed that I made a sort of wave amongst them... they on the other hand had both of their parents who were financially able to buy them wayy nicer boards than the water logged junk I was carrying around lol. Slowly I started getting hand me downs, nicer parts, bearings etc. little by little I tried making money here and there by doing chores and or side jobs. With my friends I learned to adjust my trucks so I can change how easily I could turn, lubing up my bearings, and finding out little simple things like a small gap in between the nut and the bearing. Little things that made sense when building a board. Finally later during high school building a deck was awesome process. It was like buying a car lol literally adding the grip take and knowing how to properly cut the edges and filing down the excess gave a feeling of perfection and customization and a sense of pride.. Knowing you built a board from 0. Around these times we're the best years of my life I had friends who would drive easily 40 to 50 minutes just to go to a new park and those days were unforgettable. Now I'm a father of a 10 year old boy who would see his dad try to stay in shape and take his time trying to brush up his skills in skating every now and then. It was hard being able to show a very young son of mine all the tricks I still could do even throughout all those years... Skating everyday in the summer in my teenage years definitely left a solid imprint on balance and coordination skills that im sure most skaters could relate. But again this is tough because showing my son all these things I could do would make my son or possibly even anyone feeling they would never be able to get to a seasonef level or even getting a simple Ollie for that matrer. But I'm a person takes on challenges. I like to make it very very simple to explain things to any kind of person in order to teach and to have fun while doing it. I think I definitely have the patience and support to make anyone have an absolute blast doing anything honestly. Personality definitely has a great role in this kind of work. My experiences and stories would be great for any age.
Ive been skateboarding for 16 years, and over that time, Ive developed not just technical skills but a deep respect for the culture and community that surrounds the sport. Ive spent countless hours at skateparks, learning everything from the basics like pushing and balancing to more advanced tricks like kickflips, grinds, and transition riding. Ive also helped friends learn and improve their skills, which gave me a natural feel for teaching and communicating skateboarding concepts in a way thats fun and easy to understand. What sets me apart as a teacher is patience, positivity, and an ability to break things down clearly. I understand how intimidating skateboarding can be for beginners, so I focus on creating a supportive environment that builds confidence while keeping safety a priority. Im good at reading peoples comfort levels and adjusting my teaching style to match their pace. My goal is always to make skating enjoyable, encouraging progress without pressure. Im passionate about the sport and equally passionate about sharing it with others.
