Veteran Instructor Dakota H. — Brooklyn, New York

I am Dakota Hunt, born in Melbourne, Florida. I have been off and on working with children, for years teaching skateboarding. I have a huge passion and deep connection with almost all kids, especially if they are into skating, working with them allows me to remember my inner child that I have, to not be serious all the time, to be more playful! I love and am able to work with kids of all ages and levels, meet them wherever they are, and help them push themselves a bit more. I love watching them discover how to do certain tricks they have been working on for a long time simply just sharing a bit of advice or allowing them to visually see someone else do it is huge and fills my soul. I have a lot of patience when it comes to kids, I stay present and very interactive with the level of skating a kid may be at, allowing the kid to go through his or her process of learning with no anger or judgment. I have been practicing mindfulness for a few years now, and incorporating mindfulness into skating for the kids I feel is important. For instance, stretching before skating, will help tremendously to not get hurt as easily. I am a certified Yoga instructor as well. I am in San Francisco, California, and would love to skate with some young rippers!

I have worked with 3 students from ages 6-10 instructing them on skateboarding for about 4 months. I am looking to gain more experience in youth instruction while working with something I have a passion for. I am also willing to train intermediate-level skateboarders who want to learn more tricks or brush up on their skills. I currently am not using Facebook or Instagram, but I am willing to create one for this instructing position.

Top Rated Malachi S. — Bronx, New York

I'm Malachi, almost 25yrs old, and have been skating for as long as I can remember. Some time around the age of 13 or 14 was when I really started to become more invested in the sport and just seeing the progress I made over the course of time encouraged me more to keep at it. Skating for me is like my outlet, it's a source of my happiness. Being a part of the community alone and just seeing how well-rounded, uplifting, and vibrant being was all the more reason for me wanting to stay involved in the activity. Seeing the youth get into it was all the more captivating and just inspiring overall to help teach those who are just as interested in learning the basics and working their way up from there.

Highly Rated Kelvin G. — New York, New York

I have been skateboarding since 12 years old, and have loved it ever since I picked a board up. Its been about 17 years now and im still going strong. Rodney mullen was/is my biggest inspiration and the reason why i picked up a board. What makes me a good teacher is that I am very patient and dedicated and I understand the trials and tribulations that goes into skateboarding. I want to give each and every student the excitement and estaticness that I felt when I myself was being taught for a brief period of time. I would also like to help these students understand and feel comfortable with skateboarding and provide them with an unparalleled experience they will never forget.

Veteran Instructor Gaven C. — New York, New York

I've been skating for 15+ years and during my time I've put a lot of emphasis to anyone seeking guidance in their journey of pursuing skateboarding on having a basic fundamental foundation to then work from. Many are eager to get into all the advanced techniques and while having the desire to reach that point is well and fine, I do think there's importance in working your way through standard progression and focus more on what makes skating fun! Some might get frustrated in their initial approach to learning tricks or maneuvering, but a lot of it is unnecessary stressing due to higher expectations. There's nothing wrong with setting goals for yourself but it's crucial to hone in on why you want to skate in the first place and what benefits come along with it. In this case, the pleasures of being on the board!
