Skateboarding is a pastime activity, a work of art, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2023 survey and study by American Sports Data found there are 18.5 million skaters in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a skateboard in the last year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the following years the skate parks have more than tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.
