According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.5 square miles (1.3 km), all of it land.
As of the census of 2000, there were 983 people, 437 households, and 277 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,843.9 people per square mile (716.1/km²). There were 482 housing units at an average density of 904.1 per square mile (351.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.56% White, 0.10% African American, 0.41% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.81% from other races, and 0.81% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.22% of the population.
