OUR SKATE INSTRUCTOR

Matthew Z. from Lansing, Michigan!
I got my first skateboard for X-mas when I was 4 years old. It was an old-school Nash complete with an awesome panther graphic. I rolled around on it in my room because it was winter. When the snow melted I was able to cruise the sidewalks and have loved skateboarding ever since. It was not until my 7th grade year that I started skating every day and learning tricks. When I was 15 we had a local shop that set up some ramps and a contest to raise money for our local park to be built. I got first place in the contest and even won the best trick with a kickflip bs 5-0. A few years later our local park was built by Team Pain. That was in 2002 and I have been mentoring, giving tips and pointers to the younger as well as older skaters ever since.
Discover Skateboarding in a Week-Long Course
Skateboarding is a leisure activity, an art form, or a method of transportation. Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the ages. A 2023 report by American Sports Data found that there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the last year were under the age of 18, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study. In the coming years the physical locations of skate parks have more than tripled making it more accessible as privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are becoming a reality.
The most significant change has been the developed generation bubble that skated in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the world wide mainstream of competitive sports and now sees it as a natural participation activity for their children as led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.
