The explosive growth of new skateparks in Phoenix is a testament to that. Skateboarding has been shaped and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2023 report by American Sports Data found that there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the most recent year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have doubled since then. In the ensuing years the skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as publicly and privately owned skate parks and indoor skate parks are coming into the picture. The largest change in Phoenix has been the developed generation that skateboarded in their youth and have grown up with the “X” Games explosion into the worldwide mainstream of competitive sports and sees it as a participation activity for their children led by X-Games Athletes who are affiliated and instruct for our brand and web site.Gilbert Skateboard Instructor – Quinn From Mesa
Born and raised in Portland Oregon, Quinn started skating in one of skateboarding’s capitals at the age of 9. 12 years later, at the age of 21, living in Tempe while completing his final year at ASU, he loves it more than ever. Quinn believes that skateboarding is an art form, much like traditional martial arts. Once a skateboarder masters the basics, they can begin to express themselves through small intentional movements, a style unique to them. A new world opens up for them, culturally, as well as how they see architecture and the environment around them. Skateboarding has played a huge role in Quinn’s life, and it has shaped him into the person he is today. He would love to share his passion and expertise with anyone who shows interest.
