Adam Miller is a skateboarder from Iowa who has been sponsored by a local skate shop owned by the legendary pro, Nate Sherwood. Birdhouse just put Adam on “flow.”
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (CBS 2/FOX 28) — Adam Miller may be a small town high school kid from Alburnett.
“Skating is where I really like found myself,” skateboarder Adam Miller said.
But now, Adam finds himself inches away from landing it in the pros all because of this move in front of some of Adam’s favorite skateboarders, including Tony Hawk.
“The first thing I did, I actually turned around and Tony Hawk was right there. He gave me a high-five. I couldn’t believe it,” Adam said.
Adam has been riding on the wings of Nate Sherwood, former professional skateboarder and owner of EduSkate in Cedar Rapids.
“It’s just my way of paying back, because I had people do that for me. If they didn’t do it for me, I never would have had a career. I never would have had any sponsors. I never would have went anywhere,” Sherwood said.
More than 2 million people have seen Adam’s trick on YouTube. It took him a few tries, but Adam is believed to be the first person in the world to do a back-flip down a flight of stairs onto a different board.
“He just kept going. It was rad,” Sherwood said.
Despite his leap to fame, Adam still remembers his humble beginnings.
“My main goal is just to give back to skateboarding as much as it’s given to me,” Adam said.
